HI All … Yes, the gov and Norm Coleman showed a unified front even as they spoke in separate news conferences. They even used the identical phrase when speaking of the victims and their families “who were impacted.”

According to Google Maps we are 4.6 miles away from the east bank anchor of the I-35W bridge. It is not a structure we use very much because the natural alternative routes are the more logical way to go. If you turn on your news about now you will learn that Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River which carries more than 100,000 cars a day has collapsed in its entirety during the tail end of rush hour. All fire-rescue departments in the Twin Cities metropolitan area are being asked to go to the scene. National Guard helicopters on the scene. Emergency helicopters evacuating injured. News helicopters asked to leave the scene. Cell phone system is overwhelmed and customers are being asked to not use their cell phones if possible. This is about 15 minutes by car from our house.
